Form Factors: Sizes That Shape Your Build
Motherboards come in different sizes, known as form factors, which determine compatibility
with PC cases and the number of expansion options available.
Form Factor Dimensions Description
ATX 305mm × 244mm Full-sized board with maximum expansion slots (up to 8 RAM
slots). Ideal for gaming and workstation builds.
MicroATX 244mm × 244mm Mid-sized board that fits in smaller cases. Offers 2–4 RAM
slots and moderate expansion.
Mini-ITX 170mm × 170mm Compact board designed for small-form-factor PCs. Limited
to 2 RAM slots and minimal expansion.
Tip: Choose your form factor based on your case size, performance needs, and upgrade
plans.
